• A quality doubles draw

The doubles tournament in RC Hotel Open has all the ingredients to be a great one. In the four seeded doubles teams all players are ranked top 100 in the world which is unusual in a challenger tournament on this level. The pairing of Johan Brunström and Frederik Nielsen consists of two top 100 ranked players. They have won nine tournaments on this level or better together, but that was not enough to get one of the seeded spots in the draw.

The top seeded combination from Netherlands, Wesley Koolhof and Matwe Middelkoop, has been playing a lot together during the last year and won the ATP tournament in Sofia in February. Brit Jonathan Marray was a surprise winner in Wimbledon together with Frederik Nielsen in 2012. In Jonkoping he is playing with Rameez Junaid and they are seeded as number two in the strong doubles field. Marrays doubles campaign is up and running with blended results on ATP tour and ATP Challenger level and Junaid won an ATP tournament last year. Clearly they are possible winners in the tournament and the British/Australian combination will be a tough challenge for one of three Swedish wild card combination, Markus Eriksson/Milos Sekulic, in the first round.

Daniel Windahl and Elias Ymer played a lot of doubles for Sweden during their junior stages. In RC Hotel Open they got a wild card and a tough draw, facing no 4th seeds Andreas Siljeström/Mateusz Kowalczyk. The last home wild card was awarded to Isak Arvidsson/Fred Simonsson.

Among a lot of strong pairings in Jonkoping we might have an extra eye on the Germans Dustin Brown and Jan-Lennart Struff. They have been successful on this level before and don´t forget that Brown also is a favorite in the singles tournament.
